Pellet Hormone Therapy

Pellet Hormone Replacement Therapy Greater Chicago

A great solution for both men and women suffering from hormone imbalance

A great solution for both men and women suffering from low testosterone or hormone imbalance, pellets are the only method of hormone replacement therapy that delivers consistent, physiologic levels of the hormone.

Hormone pellet implants of bioidentical estradiol and testosterone are an excellent therapy for symptoms of low estrogen and testosterone in women. It consists of painlessly placing small pellets, the size of a grain of rice or a BB, of bioidentical hormones (estradiol and testosterone) under the skin of the hip (side of the buttocks). The procedure is done right in the office, and only takes a few minutes.

Pellet therapy avoids fluctuations in hormone levels — and in mood and energy — that can be caused by other methods of delivery.

Each tic-tac-sized pellet is implanted just under the skin and lasts four-to-six months, rectifying the many side effects of hormone imbalance: loss of libido, the inability to perform sexually, weight gain, moodiness, fatigue, loss of concentration, and energy. Pellet therapy helps you be yourself — and better.

Dr. Epperly has been using bioidentical hormone pellet implants since 2004, and he has found that these little rice-sized pellets usually do an excellent job of eliminating hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, insomnia, forgetfulness, and several other symptoms of perimenopause and post-menopause.

They also reduce menstrual migraines significantly. The side effects of hormone pellet implants appear to be far less than any other current hormone replacement therapy, and, therefore, represent a significant improvement in hormone replacement therapy. These natural hormones are derived from soybeans, and are exactly the same as the hormones that are already in a woman’s body.

The hormone pellet implants are pure 100% crystalline estradiol (technically called 17-beta-estradiol) or pure 100% crystalline testosterone.  After insertion, the implants slowly dissolve over a 3-6 month time period leaving no residue.

This treatment is not new, but is very much underutilized, with only a handful of doctors across the country currently using it. There are, in fact, over sixty references involving hormone pellet implants in the mainstream medical literature.

Hormone pellet implants have been in use for over fifty years, and their track record of success and safety is unsurpassed.
As with any form of HRT, vaginal bleeding can occur and can be similar to regular periods.  Hormone implants are an especially excellent option for women who have had a hysterectomy, since there is no risk of troublesome vaginal bleeding in such cases.

Although not necessarily the preferred method for men, hormone pellet implants are also an option for some men with low testosterone levels.  They would be another appropriate choice for men with low testosterone (called male hypogonadism) who do not like using hormone skin gel, patches,  or doing weekly injections.  Greater libido, more energy, stronger muscles, less depression, improved sex, and better mental concentration are some of the benefits seen.

The interplay of our body’s hormonal messengers is much like a symphony orchestra.  In order to produce the harmonious sound that the composer intended, a number of elements need to be present and appropriately tuned.

For our body’s systems to function in harmony a variety of key hormones must be present in adequate amounts and properly balanced.

This balance is best achieved by utilizing bioidentical versions of our body’s own hormones that are balanced based on symptom optimization as well as laboratory guidance.  Simultaneously care to correct nutritional imbalances, chronic inflammation, free-radical damage,  mitochondrial and cellular dysfunction caused by a buildup of toxic chemicals can contribute to the normalization of hormone balance and restore more normal hormone levels.
